For YEARS I thought that since I didn’t own a juicer (hellllo only-so-much-cabinet-space in my kitchen), the only vibrant and healthy green juices I would be enjoying were the $7 one’s from fancy AF juice bars. Which, I admit, I do totally love. But unfortunately, my budget does not.

And so I finally got to thinking..

Can you make a delicious green juice without a juicer? 

And the answer, obviously, is YES! Otherwise this would be a pretty pointless post, right? 

And I ain’t here to waste your time, no way. Not with delicious green juice on the horizon.

Delicious and vibrant green juice without a juicer is possible with this easy blender recipe!

How do you do it? With a blender! And it’s actually really easy. 

Can I get a hell yes for small kitchen victories + one more way to use your beloved vitamix! (or blendtec.. or ninja, or kitchenaid… don’t wanna leave anyone out 😉)

And believe it or not, it ends up being just a biiiit more economical than a daily run to the juice bar. 

Okay maybe a lot more economical.

I haven’t done the exact math, but based on a rough estimate: one batch of this recipe will run you about $7, which is about the same price juice bars charge for one juice 12-16 oz juice.

This recipe makes about 3-4 times that and is just as delicious.

watermelon strawberry quencher {vegan + paleo}

I’m a little embarrassed to admit how long I’ve had this simple recipe floating around my summer. Landing itself after workouts, for friend-loaded-out-of-state-brunches, and introducing it to tequila before YOU!! It’s a shame, really. Not to mention the fact that the weather is already cooling down and we’re all thinking more about sweaters and soup (ahem like me, who’s going to be making one later today) than we are the necessity to cool the EF down IMMEDIATELY.

My timing may be a little off, but you’ll have to accept my sincerest apology. Because all of these reasons aren’t enough to keep my from introducing you to the summer beverage love of my life, – the watermelon strawberry quencher.

It got it’s start, when for some reason I decided in the middle of Seattle’s massive (for us, okay? Don’t judge me!) heat wave, I took up RUNNING. Running, guys! This is kind of a big deal for me.

Cuz for as long as anyone has known me I have been the professed “I will never be a runner” .. and “it’s just sooo boring” type of a lady. But then I discovered this awesome app called aaptiv, and things will never be the same. Hellllo endorphin high!

They create running, strength training, yoga and even meditation programs that are led by fitness professionals and backed with music to keep you motivated and up to speed. And with their help, running suddenly became… fun. Something I nevvvvver thought I would say. If you need a mix up in your exercise routine I definitely recommend checking them out.

And that’s how in the midst of the heat and sweat the crazy in me thought… why not sweat some more?

LOL GOOD IDEA, NYSSA. Until your face is beet red and you can’t stay hydrated to save your life.

I’ve been getting home late since starting my new job, like 10 or 11 at night (if I’m lucky!) and while I’m SO grateful to have my days free to work on this site and take care of myself, it’s been a little bit harder to wind down and get to sleep once I get home.

Sometimes I stay awake for a little while to bust out some work in the quiet and dark house, as it always tends to be a pretty productive time for me – there’s something about that stillness that allows me to focus like no other. But I don’t like staying up so late that I’m dragging to get out of bed in the morning. When I fall into that bad habit it always has a way of killing my morning yoga routine. Which if you can relate, tends to start a waterfall cascade of feeling like my day has totally fallen to bits and that I’m in no way living up to my potential. Yikes! that sounds pretty harsh when I write that down here.

I’m working on that whole self compassion thing.

I’ve known for awhile that golden milk can aid in relaxation, and therefore promote a good night’s sleep, so I decided to give it a try. Boosting this turmeric latte with an extra dose of healthy fats was this sort of intuitive thing that I started adding to my own little recipe to have an even easier time falling and staying asleep.. Come to find out after some research, having a little bit of fat before bed isn’t just some random thing. It really can help you fall and stay asleep by keeping your tummy is satisfied, and giving you that cozy sleepy feeling you get after finishing an especially satisfying meal.

I love it when my intuition is confirmed by scientific facts! Makes me feel like I’m tuning into my body in the right way. Our bodies have lots of messages to share with us if we create the space to listen!
