Ok, so when was the last time you guys had a black, vanilla scented almond milk latte? Neverrr?! I thought that might be your answer.
My first time sipping one of these wasn’t too long ago actually. I had a little bit of experience with taking activated charcoal for an gas and an upset tummy, but never in the latte form. That was, until Patrick and I were hanging out in LA for our anniversary a month or so ago.
I know, I know – it’s a likely story. Girl goes to LA, tries a black latte and brings the recipe back home with her. But it’s so GOOD, you guys! I’m all for trends if they are actually worthy of some love. And it’s so tasty and easy to make that I thought you all would enjoy creating an iced activated charcoal latte in your kitchen, too!
And since it’s the beginning of October and Halloween is around the corner, it just kind of felt right.
Let me assure you this latte tastes way better than it looks, and is also pretty dang good for you. Activated charcoal is what gives it the deep (dare I say, “spooky”?) black hue, but mostly it just tastes like a very delicious vanilla almond milk latte.
This mango coconut smoothie with turmeric and lime is not too sweet, but slightly floral and aromatic from the perfectly ripe mango, a bright clean layer of flavor from all that fresh lime juice that wakes up your taste buds, a little tropical creamy thing happening thanks to the coconut milk, and some anti-inflammatory love for your bod from the bold and vibrant turmeric.
Even though the first day of fall is literally right around the corner, I’ll still start some of my mornings with healthy and vibrant smoothies. Especially when they’re loaded up with immune boosting good stuff like vitamin C, anti-inflammatory turmeric and the good-for-you fat of sweet and creamy coconut milk.
Plus, sometimes as the days grow shorter it helps a little bit to have something that looks (and tastes) like sunshine in your glass 😉

All the iced coffee lovers in the house raise your hands! 🙋🏼 I am that girl that drinks iced coffee all year round. Maybe a little less in the winter than in the summer – but really only because most coffee shops stop making cold brew after Thanksgiving 🙄.
I do ALSO love a steaming hot cup of joe when the timing is right, but if I had to pick one – it would be iced.

Like probably the beginning of summer. Which is a little embarrassing to say.
