Bulletproof coffee + fun flavor combos = infinitely better.

Ingredients and substitutions
All you need to make this healthy homemade pumpkin spice latte is a few pantry staples.
- Hot coffee – Hot coffee is the base for this bulletproof recipe. You can use any method you normally use to brew it. Decaf coffee and coffee alternatives like Dandy Blend also work if that’s your preference!
- Coconut oil – There are lots of options you can use for fat in a bulletproof coffee. Butter, ghee, MCT oil, and coconut oil are some of the most popular. To keep this recipe dairy free and vegan friendly I’ve opted for coconut oil, but you could substitute with another option. I talk about different fat options in this post that’s all about how to make bulletproof coffee.
- Pumpkin puree – Pumpkin puree adds a pretty orange color to the latte, along with some lovely pumpkin flavor, but if you don’t have any you can skip it. Sweet potato puree and butternut squash puree will also work as a substitute!
- Pumpkin pie spice – Pumpkin pie spice is what really makes this latte shine. A homemade or store bought version both work. I’ve been dying to try this golden pumpkin pie spice mix from The Bojon Gourmet.
- Salt – Just a pinch brings all the other flavors together. I never skip a pinch of salt in my lattes and smoothies!
- Vanilla extract – For some added warm cozy flavor.
- Natural sweetener of choice – Maple syrup, honey, or coconut sugar are all delicious options. To keep this recipe low carb / keto leave the sweetener out or opt for a zero calorie sweetener like these monk fruit drops.
- Dairy free whipped cream – Optional, but a nice touch for a treat!
Where I like to shop for pantry staples
You can find all of the pantry staples for this recipe on Thrive Market – a membership based natural products store that is like the Whole Foods of Costco but entirely based online and with the BEST wholesale prices.
How to make this pumpkin spice latte extra creamy
Bulletproof coffee gets creamy because the fat you add to the hot coffee is emulsified when blended. However after sipping it for a while the fat will sort of settle and the latte won’t be *quite* as creamy.
To keep it creamy until you’ve taken your last sip, add some warm almond milk, oat milk, or non dairy creamer to the blender with all the other ingredients and proceed with the recipe as written.
How to make a Whole30 version of this PSL
To make this coffee Whole30 compatible all you need to do is leave out the sweetener. All of the other ingredients fit within the rules of the program.
