This Blended Vitamin C Citrus Juice is an easy to make homemade whole fruit juice that is perfect for the Winter months when our immune systems need a little boost. Made with tangerines, lemon, lime, ginger, honey (optional), and even some turmeric (if that’s your jam!). A healthy juice with no juicer required that is rich in Vitamin C. Naturally sweetened, gluten free, paleo, and Whole30 friendly.

A quick note on this recipe! The original version of this post was published back in 2015. Since then I’ve re-tested the recipe, updated the photographs, and the content. I’m republishing it for you today to enjoy! I hope you continue to make and love this immune boosting citrus juice. xo
This time of year (and this year more than ever) we lean hard into citrus to help keep our immune systems going strong. And making homemade juice is an excellent way to enjoy all of the benefits of fresh juice without spending a ton of money.
One of my favorite things about this immune boosting juice is that it’s actually made with a blender – no juicer required! That’s why I call it a “whole fruit” juice. An added benefit of this method is that you retain all of the fiber from the citrus. This can help counteract a spike in blood sugar.
Because this juice is made with lots of whole citrus (including very tart lemons and limes) it is not the sweetest citrus juice. You can sweeten it to taste with honey, however that addition would make it no longer Whole30 friendly.
Whether you’re fighting a cold or just looking for a little extra something to boost your immune system, this immune boosting Vitamin C juice has so much going for it. It’s been a part of our cold weather arsenal for many years and I’m so excited for you to join in on the magic.
Why you’ll love this Blended Vitamin C Citrus Juice
This natural immune boosting juice is:
- Fresh & vibrant
- Rich in Vitamin C
- Made without a juicer!
- Nourishing
- Refreshing
- Easy to make
- So yummy!
Ingredients for this Blended Vitamin C Citrus Juice
This healthy winter citrus juice is made with 3 types of citrus, ginger, and turmeric. You can modify the type of citrus used based on what you have on hand, and easily sweeten it up with a little bit of honey.
(If you’re already ready to get started, scroll all the way down to the bottom for the full recipe!)
Here’s exactly what you need to make this recipe:
- Tangerines – Tangerines, mandarins, clementines, OR even small oranges will all work for this juice. Feel free to customize it based on what you have on hand!
- Lemon – One lemon alone provides about half of your daily recommended value! Pretty incredible.
- Lime – Limes have a little less Vitamin C than lemons, but still a significant amount. If you’re making this recipe without the honey, I recommend leaving out the lime to take off a bit of the sour edge.
- Ginger – Ginger has long been valued for it’s wide array of digestive health benefits. It also contains potent anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols.
- Turmeric – Another powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient, turmeric has also shown potential in improving detoxification, kidney function, blood sugar balance, and cognitive function.
- Real sea salt – Just a pinch of natural mineral rich sea salt turns this homemade juice into an electrolyte replenisher, too!
- Black pepper – While not necessary, black pepper has been shown to significantly boost the absorption of the curcumin present in turmeric. I always try to include at least a small amount in any recipe I make that includes turmeric.
- Honey – Because this juice is made with lots of whole citrus (including very tart lemons and limes) it is not the sweetest citrus juice. You can sweeten it to taste with honey, however that addition would make it no longer Whole30 friendly.
- Water – Just enough for everything to blend together smoothly.
How to make this Blended Vitamin C Citrus Juice
All you need to make this healthy immune booster juice recipe is the ingredients listed above, and a blender.
Here’s the step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Prepare the ingredients
Peel the tangerines or oranges, and cut the peel away from the lemon and lime. If you’re using a high speed blender like a Vitamix all the fruit can be kept whole. Otherwise, you may want to cut it into smaller pieces.
Peel and thinly slice the ginger, and gather the other ingredients.
Step 2: Blend everything in the blender
Add all ingredients (tangerines, lemon, lime, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, sea salt, honey – if using, and water) to the blender. Blend on high until smooth and no pieces of fruit or ginger remain.
Step 3: Serve or store
This recipe makes about 3 cups worth of Vitamin C rich juice. Either serve it immediately or store it in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy!
Is this blended citrus juice healthy?
Yes! This immune boosting juice is not only full of Vitamin C, it also contains many other essential Vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
This juice contains:
- Vitamin C
- Electrolytes (from the minerals in the real sea salt. Real Salt is one of my favorites with 60+ trace minerals! Read their mineral analysis here.)
- Trace minerals like Iron, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc.
- Fiber
- A small amount of Folate
- Antioxidants
Can a blender really make juice?
Absolutely. This juice may be on the more pulp heavy side than store bought orange juice, but making it in the blender 100% works.
An added benefit of making juice in the blender is that you retain all of the fiber from the citrus. This can help counteract a spike in blood sugar.

Description
This Blended Vitamin C Citrus Juice is an easy to make homemade whole fruit juice that is perfect for the Winter months when our immune systems need a little boost. Made with tangerines, lemon, lime, ginger, honey (optional), and even some turmeric (if that’s your jam!). A healthy juice with no juicer required that is rich in Vitamin C. Naturally sweetened, gluten free, paleo, and Whole30 friendly.
Ingredients
- 3 tangerines or 2 small oranges – peeled
- 1 small lemon, peel cut away
- 1 small lime, peel cut away (If you’re making this recipe without the honey, I recommend leaving out the lime to make it a little less sour)
- 1 inch of ginger peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried turmeric, or 1/2 inch piece of peeled fresh turmeric
- Pinch of real sea salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- Honey, to taste (omit for Whole30)
- 1 1/2 cups water
Instructions
Peel the tangerines or oranges, and cut the peel away from the lemon and lime. If you’re using a high speed blender like a Vitamix all the fruit can be kept whole. Otherwise, you may want to cut it into smaller pieces.
Peel and thinly slice the ginger, and gather the other ingredients.
Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend on high until smooth and no pieces of fruit or ginger remain.
Serve immediately or move to the refrigerator to store until ready to enjoy. Shake before pouring!
Notes
If using turmeric, be careful not to spill the juice on any surfaces or materials that stain easily, as turmeric is known for leaving stubborn bright yellow stains.
Because this juice is made with lots of whole citrus (including very tart lemons and limes) it is not the sweetest citrus juice. If you sweeten it with honey, that addition would make it no longer Whole30 friendly. If you’re making this recipe without the honey, I recommend leaving out the lime to make it a little less sour.
This Vitamin C juice will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, but the sooner you drink it the better! More fresh = more nutrients.

Why do they say extractors (ninja) are better at retaining the molecules?Extractors supposedly blend into smaller pieces so all the minerals can be digested. Are we loosing some of the minerals when we throw out the pulp?
Nyssa Tanner says
Hi Gregory! I’m not sure about minerals (that would be a good question for a nutritionist), but keeping the pulp definitely helps retain fiber 🙂 – Nyssa

Everyone should make this… EVERYDAY! This recipe is so simple, but really packs a punch. The juice texture is perfect and I actually enjoyed the tartness of the citrus.. No honey for me this time around! I felt a surge of energy immediately and know my immune system was saying thank you, haha. Highly recommend!

Hi nyssa! I have never tried something like this before. I rarely drink on because it gives me stomach aches. This recipe makes sense though, and all the ingredients were unprocessed and fresh. It tasted good and I will see how I feel in the next few days! Flu season is pretty much here, and it is getting cooler and wetter in the PNW, so I want to be prepared! This juice is for sure gonna keep me afloat!
