I love you smoothies = the best pink + delicious way to show someone how much you care, before you even brush your teeth.
even if that someone is YOU!
because we all know that mornings can be a little…rough. and frazzle-y. and what makes mornings even more rough + frazzle-y? not eating something delicious before heading out the door.
(yes I am that person who neeeeds to eat breakfast. never-could-I-ever skip this perfect meal. I’m not sure what would happen if I did but I might melt into a puddle of..I don’t know what but I don’t think it would be pretty.)
so a few months ago I decided that smoothies we’re going to be my new monday through friday BFF (ok sometimes weekends too because smoothies are kind of AWESOME!).
they’re so easy to throw together quickly, and if you’re like us and sometimes use jars instead of regular glasses well you just pop a lid on that glorious glass of blended vibrance and you’re out the door with a nourishing breakfast to boot.
a little while after I started this new morning ritual I got to thinking about how P and I don’t usually have a chance to connect in the morning before work. we leave early which means we’re both usually half asleep when we say our goodbye + I love you for the day. naturally then, the answer for turning up the love in the morning became waking up a little earlier so I can stick a smoothie in his hands (& a kiss on his cheek) with eyes a little brighter than if I’m saying goodbye from dreamland.
and so the “I love you smoothie” was born.
strawberries, raspberries, bananas, plain yogurt and coconut water keep it simple and just sweet enough to have you craving another the next morning. plus, if a smoothie all about love had a color I’m pretty sure it would be pink, so there’s also that little bit of magic happening 😍😍😍
the recipe listed below is for 2 smoothies, which is perfect for us but you could easily halve it (or save the other half for the next morning = more time to sleeep!) or even double it if you’re blending for a bigger family.
moral of the story is 👉 food = love. especially when you’re still too sleepy to show it with your words.
