Dairy free collagen hot chocolate – aka the coziest winter drink! A hot chocolate that is creamy, wholesome, and perfect for the holiday season. Easy to make and oh-so-delicious!
Ohh boy. This collagen hot chocolate! It’s so so good and I am beyond excited to be sharing the recipe with you. It’s creamy, chocolatey, and just the right amount of decadent.
In all honesty I haven’t always been the biggest fan of hot chocolate. Something about a typical version always seems to be too sweet for me, so I just sort of steer clear of it.
Can you guys relate?
It wasn’t that I didn’t like the IDEA of hot chocolate. It’s just that the usual options never made me jump up and down with joy.
That is until I started making this yummy homemade version.
It’s perfect because you can make it as sweet as you like, with whatever type of natural sweetener that works for you. I usually use maple syrup because – YUM, but coconut sugar and honey are also super good. The choice (slash what you have available in your pantry 😂) is yours.
Why add collagen though? Well, truth be told this hot chocolate would be vvv good without it, but it adds that little bit of extra that takes it from vvv good to vvv great 😉
Ok. But for real. What does the collagen ACTUALLY do?
It gives the hot chocolate a bit extra body, and a more full and creamy quality, along with a nice fat cap of froth on top that will make your mouth water just looking at it.
So do you need collagen for this recipe? Nope. It will still be totally awesome without it if you don’t want to make a special trip to the grocery store to buy some. But will it be all the more special if you do use it?
I would say most definitely.
And if you really wanna go crazy and make it a boozy hot chocolate, skip the sweetener and add Kahlua instead – I won’t tell anyone 😉
