Description

These healthy oven baked sweet potato fries are a tasty homemade snack that’s super easy to make! Made with thinly cut sweet potatoes, avocado oil, and a blend of yummy seasonings. Roasted until crispy and delicious! Sauce recipe for dipping fries included in the blog post. Whole30, paleo, gluten free, and vegan.

Ingredients

Scale

For sweet potato fries

  • 2 medium or 3 small sweet potatoes, about 1 1/2 pounds – longer sweet potatoes for longer fries!
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt,
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For garlic aioli dipping sauce

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise – avocado oil mayo is a great Whole30 compatible option
  • 1 clove of garlic, grated or finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon grainy mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

For sweet potato fries

  1. Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F and move the rack to the center. For easy clean up, line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prep sweet potatoes. Wash sweet potatoes well and cut into long 1/4 inch thick sticks. Transfer to the lined baking sheet and toss to thoroughly combine with avocado oil and all the spices. Spread out in a single layer on the baking sheet so that the fries are not overlapping or touching each other as much as possible. I used a full-sized baking sheet like this one (26-by-18-inches). If all you have is a half-size baking sheet (18-by-13-inches) you will want to bake them in two batches or cut the recipe in half. This will allow them to get crispy on all sides. I cover some measurements for making a half batch (2 servings) above in the blog post.
  3. Bake. Move to the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Take out and rotate the pan. Move back to the oven and bake for another 5-8 minutes – until crispy all over.
  4. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce!

For garlic aioli dipping sauce

  1. Combine all ingredients. Add everything to a small bowl and stir to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

At this temperature the fries will come out slightly charred and crisp on the edges. If you want them to be less charred I would recommend reducing the heat to 450 degrees F and roasting for a little longer, until done to your liking.
