Raise yo hand if you love a good smoothie! I’ve been suuuper into whipping up all sorts of fun combinations lately. There’s something so amazing about packing so many vitamin + antioxidant + mineral rich ingredients into ONE glowing cup! Should we talk about one that packs a serious dose of nourishment like this probiotic turmeric mango carrot citrus smoothie?!
As you guys may have seen if you follow me on instagram, I’ve been diving into making my own water kefir lately and I’ve totally fallen in love with the process and end product! Especially when you add a second ferment to the process to make delicious bubbly water kefir soda. It’s basically a probiotic soda pop that HELPS your microbiom // overall well-being instead of harms it. And the flavor combinations are endless.
So far I’ve made:
Lemon + Lime
Lime and Orange Bitters
I’ve got a grape version lined up for my next batch, and may even try one made with fresh mango, too!
You guys have been asking some questions about the process so I’m thinking about writing a little tutorial series on how I make water kefir. Is this something you would be interested in learning about? If so let me know in the comments below or over on my instagram or facebook page!
So the base of this smoothie starts with water kefir. But don’t turn away now if you don’t make your own at home! There’s lots of amazing store bought options that you could use here, or alternatively equally probiotic rich kombucha would be amazing. I haven’t tried kombucha with this recipe but I have been indulging in a kombucha smoothie at our local natural foods store occasionally and it’s AMAZING! So I have no doubt that your favorite citrusy kombucha would be perfect here.
Who loves milkshakes?! 🙋🏻 I dooo! And what I love even MORE is a shake made with no dairy and no artificial ingredients, which is why I’m sharing this super easy recipe for a strawberry coco ceramsicle shake!
It’s the bees knees!
There’s something about the first day of spring that always launches me straight into a lighter, brighter mindset when it comes to food, adventure and footwear, haha! (I’ve been wearing my flip flops almost every damn day! Even in the rain – maybe that’s why I’ve somehow caught ANOTHER cold?! My mother would not approve).
I feel like that should be a thing. Fancy coffees + teas for every Friday to celebrate the start of another delicious weekend. Especially if we’re talking about a bulletproof rooibos cardamom blender latte! They’re like heaven, you guys.
I love a fancy latte as much as anyone, but I had a realization a little while ago (as I’m sure we all have) about how much money I was spending on latte’s and fancy drinks while I was out and about. It was kind of a depressing number.
So since then I’ve really gotten into the habit of making these drinks at home like nobody’s business.
I really REALLY do not need one more kitchen appliance hanging around on my counter // under my cupboards (which already desperately need to be de-cluttered!), so I mostly use my blender to froth them up, or sometimes my immersion blender (if I’m feeling like a lazy bum and don’t wanna wash out my blender 😉)
Usually these fancy drinks are a bullet proof coffee (decaf for me! Yes I AM one of those people who can’t have caffeine and still drinks coffee.. go ahead and roll your eyes at me but I love the taste too much to ever give it up all the way!), or if it’s the evening maybe a golden milk.
But lately I’ve been experimenting with making latte’s out of tea. I know this is not at all a new thing to most of you and I’m a little late jumping on this bus, but I am so in love!
